Leading Support for Kikatiti Secondary School

COVID-19. Drought. Hunger. Families near the small village of Kikatiti in northern Tanzania need your help. Parents are struggling to pay mandatory tuition expenses that allow their children to attend school.

There is hope – our students are passionate to learn. Join Education for a Bright Future-Tanzania and help us help them.

Our Work

Starting with 3 dirt-floored classrooms with no electricity, doors or windows, we have worked to enhance the school campus and send volunteers to the school performing work projects since 1999 when our mission originated at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Minnesota.

“I express my sincere thanks for the over 22 years of partnership between Kikatiti Secondary School owned by ELCT-DME [Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania – Diocese of Meru] and Our Savior’s Lutheran Church [and Christ Lutheran Church] in Minnesota. I send many blessings to you.”

— Rev. Elias Kitoi Nassari, Bishop-Diocese of Meru

We are grateful this work, helping our children thrive, continues through the efforts of Education for a Bright Future-Tanzania.

The students at Kikatiti Secondary School come from very poor families who are struggling to pay the required student tuition fees to attend school. The school currently offers classes for “Forms” I, II, III and IV, the approximate equivalent of grades 7-10 in the United States. Covid, the worst drought conditions to hit Northern Africa in 40 years and the war in Ukraine that has wreaked havoc to the world food chain have devastated the area where our school is located, leaving families with little or no income.

Our Immediate Needs

“In 2002, I was asked to head the school for closing plans. Thanks to God that you arrived from Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Christ Lutheran Church the school rapidly came up like bush fire!”

— Tareto Nassari, Headmaster of Kikatiti Secondary School
